Mitchell Mandel

RockIt Career Consultation Services was founded by Brian Young and Mitchell Mandel in July, 2016 in Saint Louis, Missouri.


It is the idea of its founders that all people can have a successful and satisfying career. However, they must be aware of their strengths, be diligent in pursuing opportunities that will utilize their strengths and potential, and be able to effectively market and sell themselves by showing what value they can add to employers and their customers.


Brian Young - Owner


Brian grew up on a small family farm in western Iowa and learned early in his life the value of hard work and the blood, sweat, and tears that go into earning an honest dollar.


After acquiring his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa (graduating cum laude) in 2000, he went on to earn his M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Emporia State University in 2006.


Brian worked as a Recruiter in the Saint Louis metro area for over 15 years in various fields and industries. He began by recruiting sales people for The Mobile Solution, an authorized dealer of T-Mobile and AT&T. Later, he recruited for the financial services firm Edward Jones, assisting in the hiring of branch office staff in the western U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.  He also recruited for Pinnacle Entertainment, the owner of numerous gaming and hospitality facilities throughout the United States. Here he was part of the ramp up of River City Casino and Hotel, helping hire 1,200 employees and managers in the months leading up to its grand opening, and was then reassigned to Lumiere Place Casino and Hotels. His last Recruiter role was with Charter Spectrum, a powerhouse in cable and internet services, where he  recruited Operations and IT personnel for the Spectrum Reach (ad sales) division of the company.


Having read tens of thousands of resumes and conducted thousands of interviews, Brian discovered that many people who are looking for work or trying to start their career are being hindered by their struggle at marketing and selling themselves persuasively and confidently. Because of his experience and his knowledge of the labor market, he is uniquely qualified to make his customers' job or career search more satisfying and successful.


Mitchell Mandel - Owner


Mitchell had his first taste of hard work at the age of nine, when he helped with his family's lawn and hauling business, which earned his family just enough to keep food on their table and a roof over their heads.


He attended Northeast Missouri State University and afterwards began working in the multifamily housing industry, climbing his way up the career ladder from a seasonal Groundskeeper to the Assistant Manager and Bookkeeper due to his indomitable personality and positive outlook on life. During this early part of his career, he learned the art of the sale and how to stay motivated despite rejection.


Mitchell changed gears and started working in the furniture sales industry as an Area Sales Supervisor for Cort Furniture, motivating his salespeople to help their customer envision how the pieces they were selling could make their empty apartments and houses into their homes. Times were good and his career was booming, but he wanted to take on a new challenge, selling people on career opportunities instead of furniture. He became a Corporate Recruiter.


He has experience recruiting for a wide variety of fields in several industries. He's recruited for sales people in mobile technology for The Mobile Solution and Helio Wireless. He has recruited for individuals in the credit industry for Crescent Processing Company. He's even recruited for nurses when he worked for the Workforce Solution Group. 


Each job field and industry presented different challenges and different needs. By working with his hiring managers, he was able to match their needs to the candidate's background and personality. During this time, he gained an astute insight into the psyche of successful candidates and he wants to share the "secret recipe" with you in order to help you launch your career!
